GUIDE: CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF MATTRESSES

Care and maintenance of mattresses

It is probably the few who think about how old their mattress is, and whether it might have become too old-just like so many other things, your mattress does not live forever. But how many years does your mattress really last and you can do something to extend its life?

HOW OFTEN DOES THE MATTRESS HAVE TO BE CHANGED?

It's very different how long you should keep your mattress. The mattress's durability depends on several factors.

  • Quality: Quality is one of the factors that play a crucial role in how long your mattress can hold - that is, the better the quality the longer the shelf life.
  • Weight: The load on the mattress is very different. A heavier person will therefore also add a greater weight to the mattress than a lighter person, and therefore the mattress will soon be replaced.
  • Sweat: Every night our bodies give off waste that comes through our sweat. We can sweat between half a and a half liters at night. Sweat breaks down mattress padding.
  • Maintenance of the mattress: If you are comfortable with your mattress, it can last for a long time. Read more about how to best maintain your mattress further down.

A good indicator of whether your mattress is too old is to feel good if you lie well on the mattress and feel comfortable and comfortable when you wake up in the morning. If the mattress is old and worn, it is not healthy for your body and your wellbeing. It can both give you a bad night's sleep, but it also has a great deal of back and back and you should, therefore, go for a new mattress. As a rule, we recommend changing mattresses after 10-12 years for hygienic and physiological reasons.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

You can extend the life of your mattress if you are comfortable with it. There are various actions you can do to maintain your mattress. Follow these simple tips and get more out of your mattresses.

USE A SCROLL PAD

When you sleep with a rollercoaster, it absorbs the sweat and saves your mattress. The rolling pad is easy to wash and should be washed at least six times a year and more often if you suffer from dust allergy. Replace your roller pad with two-three-year intervals.

USE A TOP MATTRESS

Complement your mattress with a top mattress, because the top mattress both protects the mattress and increases comfort. However, be aware that the top mattress does not last for as long as the mattress, and should, therefore, be replaced more often. However, the lifespan depends on the daily load.

TURN YOUR MATTRESS

Spring mattresses, foam mattresses, and pillow top mattresses should be reversed 3-4 times a year. Not only the two beds but also the main and the feet. Be sure to check if your mattress is reversible. The pillow top mattress should be replaced 3-4 times a year, so the mattress does not shape too much after your anatomy.

VACUUM ALL KINDS OF MATTRESSES REGULARLY

For hygiene reasons, it is important to vacuum your mattress regularly to prevent dust and dirt from penetrating and closing the structure of the quilt.

HAVE AIR UNDER THE MATTRESS

In this way the mattress is ventilated from below, so the moisture can escape from the mattress. Spring and foam mattresses should lie on a slatted bed in a bed frame to ensure that condensate water can come away.

AVOID BEDSPREAD

Avoid clearing the bed as the first when you get up in the morning. It is important that the moisture that has been formed during the night from sweat and steam can escape the mattress and the mattress gets air.

AIR YOUR TOP MATTRESS AND MATTRESS IF POSSIBLE

You do not have to air mattress and mattress on a monthly basis, but only on a regular basis. House dust mites thrive in humid environments, and a damp mattress or top mattress are exposed places. Therefore, it is important that your mattress and top mattress get plenty of fresh air.
